BRIEF HISTORICAL INFORMATION: This breed conducts the beginning from the province Cordoba in central (remote from the sea) parts of the Republic Argentina. Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez, the famous doctor of science and the representative of an old local family was her author. In 1928 passionate hobby for dogs, perhaps hereditary, inclined it to lay the foundations and the standard on new breed which he called Dogo Argentino. Its work was based on methodical crossing of several breeds with an old fighting dog of Cordoba, a dog who was very strong and vigorous, but had no mental and genetic stability. This local breed was a product of crossing of Old English mastiffs, English bulldogs and bull terriers and also the tsenima for ardent fans of dog fights, at that time very popular occupation covering all classes of society was widely known. After careful and detailed studying and selection of characteristic signs on various generation Dr. Nores Martinez achieved the objectives, having received the first line. At the beginning was considered that it is a dog for fights, but the favor of Dr. Nores Martinez to hunting inclined it to take such dog in one of the usual exits to hunting where the new breed showed the skill, thus having become a key figure in all hunting of the doctor. So the Argentina mastiff quickly became an excellent dog for hunting for big game. Over time, the ability to adapt made this dog very multilateral, as for functions it was the remarkable satellite and the faithful and inflexible defender of those whom loves. Force, firmness, a keen sense of smell and bravery make her by the best dog among the used for hunting for wild pigs, a puma and other local predators which can meet on boundless open spaces of diverse grounds of the territory of Argentina. Its harmony, balance and excellent muscles of the athlete are ideal properties for constant long campaigns under any weather conditions and a further furious fight with the pursued victim.
On May 21, 1964 this breed was recognized by Film logical federation of Argentina and the Argentina agricultural Society which opened the breeding book to begin registration.
And only on July 31, 1973 the breed was accepted by the International film logical federation as the first and only Argentina breed. There was it, thanks to huge enthusiasm, work and efforts of Dr. Augustin Nores Martinez, brother and successor of the founder of breed.
GENERAL VIEW: Usual dogoobrazny type, average forms, within desirable proportions without the huge sizes. Appearance harmonious and vigorous, thanks to powerful muscles which are excreted under the dense and elastic skin adjoining on all body through not really friable hypodermic cellulose. It goes quietly, but is firm, showing the mind and fast reaction and standing on hind legs constantly cheerful by nature by means of movements. Sweet and right temper, striking whiteness. Physical advantages turn it into the real athlete.
IMPORTANT RATIOS: As the animal of average forms, has no details which are allocated from all body which is in harmony and is balanced. Possessing a skull of average proportions, has to have a muzzle of the same length, as a cranial part.
Height in withers is equal to height in a sacrum.
Depth of a breast is equal to 50% of height in withers.
Slanting length of a trunk exceeds height in withers for 10%.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT: He is vigorous, open, quiet, friendly and not strongly barking, always understanding the force. He should not be aggressive at all — characteristic which has to be observed strictly. Its haughty pose forces to compete constantly because of the territory with individuals of the same floor, most of all such behavior is shown at dogs. As hunter, it dexterous, silent, courageous and brave.
HEAD: Mezotsefalny type, looks strong and powerful, without sharp corners and distinct dents. In a profile the top line concave-convex: convex in a cranial part because of the allocated chewing muscles and a nape and slightly concave shchipets. The head connects to a neck, forming the strong, brawny arch.
CRANIUM: The skull is massive, convex in front back and across. Malar arches are widely divorced, forming large temporal hollows which give the chance to strong development of temporal muscles. The occipital bone not really acts, thanks to strong muscles of a nape. The depression in the ground in the middle of a skull is slightly designated.
Transition from a forehead to a muzzle: It is slightly expressed as transition from a convex cranial part to slightly concave shchipets. At a look sideways shows the expressed profile, thanks to speakers to nadbrovny arches.
FRONT PART: On length it is equal to a cranial part.
Nose lobe: Extensive nostrils. Black pigmentation. It is hitched slightly up, finishing a concave profile of a muzzle. At survey sideways the front line perpendicular and direct, coinciding with maxillary edge or slightly acting forward.
Muzzle: Strong, it is a little more in length, than in depth, well developed in width, lateral faces slightly meet. Top line slightly concave, almost exclusive feature of the Argentina mastiff.
Lips: Moderately thick, dry and skintight. With free edges, it is preferable with black pigmentation.
Jaws and teeth: Jaws strong are also well adjusted having a snack, недокус. Jaws have to be insignificant or uniformly meeting. They provide the maximum possibility of a grasp. Teeth are large, well developed, strongly established to the line, look clean, without caries. The full range of teeth is recommended, the priority is given to uniform tooth arcades. A straight line bite though nozhnitseobrazny it is allowed.

Almond-shaped, are put widely and moderately highly. In general, the look has to be attentive and live, but, at the same time, unusually resolute, especially at dogs.
EARS: The heads are highly put on each side, put widely, thanks to width of a cranial part. Functionally they have to be stopped and standing, triangular shape, and length them should not exceed 50% of the natural length of a first line of an ear cloth. Not stopped, they average length, wide, thick, flat and roundish on the ends. Are covered with smooth wool which slightly well than wool on other body on them small spots which are not punished can meet. In natural situation they hang down, closing a back part of cheekbones. When the dog alerted, ears can become semi-standing.
NECK: Average length, strong and very highly put, brawny, with slightly convex nape. In the form of the truncated cone, it connects to the head the brawny arch which hides all bone ledges in this part, and is fitted by the big basis to a breast. It is covered with thick and elastic skin that freely slides over hypodermic fabrics, which a little more rykhla, than on other body. On a neck there are not drooping equal folds at throat height — an essential detail for functioning of this animal. Wool on this part it is insignificant more long, than on other body.
BLOCK: Slanting length of a trunk (from a ledge a shoulder - a scapular joint to a sciatic hillock) exceeds height in withers for 10%.
Line of top: Equal withers and jobbers are at the identical height corresponding to the highest points.
Withers: Extensive and acting.
Back: Extensive and strong, with completely developed muscles forming an easy bias to a waist.
Waist: Strong it is also covered with the developed lumbar muscles which form a median depression in the ground along a backbone. Slightly well than chest department of a backbone, very slightly rising to a croup. Development of muscles in these parts of the line of top forces dogs to show slightly concave profile which, without being that actually, amplifies with age, thanks to absolutely developed back and vertebral muscles.
Croup: Moderately long, extensive and brawny poorly showing jobbers and sciatic hillocks. Its width is equal or slightly less than width of a breast is to the horizon at an angle approximately in 30 ° so that the top line fell under slightly convex inclination to the tail basis.
Breast: Wide and deep. Sokolok of a breast is at the level of ledges a shoulder - scapular joints, and the line of a breast — at the level of elbows. The volume breast providing a maximum of respiratory opportunities with long and moderately curved edges which connect to a breast at elbow height.
Stomach: It is picked slightly up from the lower line of a breast, but not borzopodobny. Strong, with good muscular elasticity, also as groin.
TAIL: It is put moderately highly, at an angle 45 ° to the line of top. Acinaciform, thick and long, reaching skakatelny joints, but not below. At rest naturally hangs down when a dog in the movement, the tail slightly rises over the line of top and constantly moves here and there. On a lynx it remains at the level of the line of top or is slightly higher.
