In spite of the fact that many confuse these two breeds of dog, the East European sheep-dog has a number of differences from a German shepherd.

External difference of the East European sheep-dog from German
- VEO is much larger (even than a bough of the East European sheep-dog more largely than a dog of "German").
- the East European sheep-dog possesses more broad and deep chest, than German.
- the pyasta Grasp at the East European sheep-dog is thicker, than at a German shepherd.
- At the East European sheep-dog quite direct back (a difference between withers and a croup – about 3 cm), and at a German shepherd a back arc-shaped.
- Legs at a German shepherd are longer, than at East European therefore movements at them a little "squatting".
Differences in character East European and a German shepherd
German shepherds are widely used in sport now that left a mark on their temperament: they are cheerful, very active and "noisy". Unlike German shepherds, the East European sheep-dogs more balanced also make an impression of more sluggish.
