the General description
Well balanced, an easy constitution, high-legged, with elegant aristocratic appearance, a vigilant and clever animal. The head with peaked, standing ears, in the alerted state a forehead becomes covered by thin wrinkles, the neck is highly put and gracefully bent, the deep, not broad chest smoothly passes into the tightened belt, the tail is twirled in a hard ring — all this creates an image graceful as a gazelle, dogs.

of the Basenji (basenji) do not bark, but these are not mute dogs, they make peculiar, surprising purity sounds — mix of a laughter and yodel (a manner of singing of Tyroleans, with characteristic guttural sounds of high purity). The clever, independent, sensitive dog very tender with the owner and mistrustful to strangers.

Ideal growth of a basenji
Dogs of 43 cm (17 inches) in withers. Boughs of 40 cm (16 inches) in withers.

Ideal weight of a basenji
Dogs of 11 kg (24 pounds). Boughs of 9.5 kg (21 pounds).

Each insignificant deviation from the standard is considered a shortcoming and is estimated in exact compliance with extent of its manifestation and importance.
