Breed the East European sheep-dog is still not recognized by FCI
of the USSR

SHORT HISTORY of BREED: The breed was created in the USSR from 1940th years. Cultivation in the country was conducted in the direction of receiving the dogs who are most adapted for service in army, border troops, troops and bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the national economy in different climatic conditions of the country. During 1924-1936 several small groups of German shepherds of various type and quality from Germany were brought to the USSR.
The task to create new breed of the sheep-dogs who were more adapted for use in the USSR taking into account natural and climatic conditions on the basis of these dogs was set. Blood of local dogs of unknown origin of a desirable phenotype were for this purpose used. As a result of selection work the breed, the called East European sheep-dog was removed. The first standard was approved in 1955.

In 2002. The Russian Film Logical Federation (RFLF) adopted the standard of breed "the East European sheep-dog".
GENERAL VIEW: The East European sheep-dog (VEO) a dog of strong type of addition, is higher than average growth, the stretched rectangular format, strong, with strong, but not rough frame and well developed strong muscles. The sexual dimorphism is well expressed: dogs are larger also massivny a bough.

BEHAVIOUR/CHARACTER: The East European sheep-dog balanced, sure, attentive, easily trained, with active and defensive reaction, the reliable partner and the defender.
HEAD: A wedge-shaped form, it is proportional to the case sizes, on length makes about 40% of height of a dog in withers, volume, but not rough.
Skull: A cranial part flat, quite wide between ears and moderately deep. The forehead is almost flat, with poorly designated longitudinal groove or without it. Nadbrovny arches are moderately expressed. The top longitudinal lines of a cranial part and a muzzle are parallel. The occipital hillock is poorly expressed.
Transition from a forehead to a muzzle (Feet): Average length, it is moderately expressed.
Nose: Nose lobe large, black.
Muzzle: Wedge-shaped, it is gradually narrowed to a nose lobe, on length it is approximately equal to a half of length of the head. Nose back straight line. The muzzle should not be pointed.
Lips: Skintight, black. Pigmentation of gums dark.
Jaws/teeth: The upper and lower jaws which are well developed, strong and strong. Teeth are large, white, skintight to each other, in a complete set (42 teeth according to a tooth formula). Nozhnitseobrazny bite.
Cheekbones: Are not given, slightly roundish.
Eyes: The average size, an oval form, rather widely and moderately slantwise put, with black, skintight centuries. Color of eyes has to be as much as possible dark.
Ears: Or is a little larger than average size, standing, highly and quite widely put, in the form of an isosceles triangle with slightly rounded off ends. Can be at rest slightly hanging in a condition of excitement are parallel among themselves the inside, and the ends of ears are directed strictly up.
NECK: Brawny, without suspension, extends to shoulders a little, on length it is approximately equal to head length. It is put at an angle 40-45 ° to the line of a back.
CASE: Harmonious, proportional, a little stretched, squared, well balanced.
Withers: It is well expressed. Height in withers slightly exceeds height in a sacrum.
Back: Strong, wide, direct, quite long.
Waist: Short, wide, brawny, slightly convex.
Croup: Wide, roundish, quite long, brawny, slightly falling to the tail basis.
Breast: An oval form, the long, wide and deep, lower line of a breast is located approximately at the level of elbows or below. Depth of a breast is 48-50% of height of a dog in withers. Edges are rather roundish.
Line of a bottom and stomach: The belt which is moderately tightened.
TAIL: The basis of a tail is continuation of the line of a croup. At rest it is lowered down reaches skakatelny joints or is slightly lower than their acinaciform form, in wild spirits — in the first third of length a tail on one line with a back, in other — it is gradually bent up. It is well covered with wool.
FRONT EXTREMITIES: Direct and parallel. Length of front extremities from elbows to the earth can be slightly more than a half of height of a dog in withers.

GAITS/MOVEMENTS: Free, smooth, wide, well balanced. Good push of back extremities, good capture of space front extremities. At a look in front or behind, on a lynx of an extremity move rectilinearly. WOOL: Double: ostevy wool dense, hardish to the touch, a straight line, average length, skintight the underfur is well developed, dense and soft, is usually lighter than an ostevy hair. Wool on the head, including the internal surface of ears, on the front surface of extremities, on paws and fingers – short, on a neck – is slightly longer and more dense. On the back surface of hips wool longer also forms moderate "trousers".

Existence of small white marks on a breast and/or paws is admissible, but it is undesirable.
Desirable growth: for dogs – 67 – 72 cm, for a bough – 62 – 67 cm
SHORTCOMINGS/DEFECTS: Any deviation from above-mentioned provisions should be considered as shortcoming/defect, and gravity with which this shortcoming / defect has to be estimated, has to correspond in proportion to degree of its expressiveness and also its influence on health and wellbeing of a dog.
SERIOUS SHORTCOMINGS / DEFECTS:
The DISQUALIFYING DEFECTS:
• Aggression or cowardice.
• Discrepancy to breed type
• Any deviations from a full tooth formula which are not specified in defects
• All deviations from a nozhnitseobrazny bite, a distortion of jaws
• Entropy, ektropiya
• Trailing ears
• Non-standard color
• Full depigmentation of a lobe of a nose.
• Raznoglazy (heterochromatism), a cataract, blue eyes – one or both
• Too short tail, kutsekhvostost.
• Kriptorkhizm unilateral or full.
• The braided, crossed or rolled movements are extremely undesirable.
• Curly wool, dlinnosherstnost or korotkosherstnost, lack of an underfur.
Any dog who is obviously showing physical or behavioural deviations has to be disqualified.
Note: Dogs have to have two obviously normal testicles which are completely lowered in a scrotum.
