From article about heraldry of the Gomel region about the ghost town coat of arms as proteins participated in creation of the settlement October and why a horn on Rogachyov's coat of arms — not absolutely a horn actually.

During creation of the modern coat of arms of Gomel served as inspiration approved in 1855. As the central figure then the lynx as many wild cats were found in local forests was chosen. Initially the lynx had longer tail, but on a modern emblem of the city the animal got more realistic outlines.

On a municipal coat of arms of Lelchitsa the stork flying up – an aspiration symbol fortunately is represented.

In 1577 Mazyr acquired the Magdebourg right, and in 1609 the coat of arms was approved. It was decorated by a black eagle with a red guard on a breast — the patrimonial coat of arms Radzivillov. After entry of the city into structure of the Russian Empire its emblem underwent minor changes.

On the settlement coat of arms October represented three red proteins, and it is connected with the history of its emergence. It appeared in 1954 as a result of association of three settlements. Among them a key role was played by Rudobelka — literally rudy or red squirrel, his name and formed the basis of the coat of arms, and the quantity of rodents symbolizes three settlements of which it was formed October. Such coat of arms in which the name of the city or settlement is ciphered is called "speaking".

The interesting story is behind the coat of arms of the city settlement of Parichi. In 2001 in archives the document granting the Magdebourg right to the city to Kazimierz (Kazimir) with the description of its coat of arms was found. Thanks to it it was succeeded to restore the historical coat of arms which central figure — a lion in a gold crown with a sword and a star. Here only the city such in modern Belarus does not exist. It is considered that it or was destroyed during war of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with Russia, or just fell into decay. Anyway, in heraldry there are examples of "continuity" when the modern territorial unit which was once the city inherits its coat of arms, as occurred in case of the settlement of Parichi.

A municipal coat of arms of Rogachyov too "speaking" as on it the mutton horn is represented. Here only an animal here at anything as as inspiration for the name the geographical feature served. The city is located on the place where the river Drut flows into Dnieper, forming a corner which on Belarusian is called "horn".
